Luca Wetherall is a bass, jazz pianist, and guitarist based in London. His debut release, The Blue Bird, premiered on BBC Radio 3.

Luca began his singing career as a choral scholar at Liverpool Cathedral under the direction of Lee Ward, followed by a degree in Music at the University of Oxford alongside a choral scholarship. Luca has sung with many choirs including the Schola Cantorum of Oxford, Merton College Oxford, Mosaic Voices, and the Liverpool Philharmonic Chamber Choir under Vasily Petrenko. Luca was a featured young artist in the Bitesize Proms concert series and has appeared as a soloist with the Instruments of Time of Truth, Oxford Contemporary Sinfonia, and the Orchestra of St. John’s. Recent solo appearances include a recital at Liverpool Cathedral, a performance of Baroque works at the Victoria Gallery. In opera he has appeared as a soloist with Cantata Dramatica, Company Carpi, and the Bate Collective at the Keble Early Music Festival. He specialises in singing low bass and Oktavist repertoire. Luca studies singing with Gary Coward. This summer, Luca looks forward to joining the touring production of a new opera entitled Disunited Jukebox by Gary Lloyd and Neil Gaiman.

Luca currently works as a peripatetic teacher of singing for Leighton Park School, Newton Prep, and Hillingdon Music Service as well as working with undergraduates at the University of Oxford. He is an experienced soloist and ensemble singer as well as being an active composer and arranger. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by the BBC Singers, CHROMA Ensemble, Mosaic Voices, and the Choir of Merton College Oxford. Luca also works as a jazz pianist and is an Assistant Musical Director for British Youth Music Theatre. Luca has experience as a musical director, a choral conductor and arranger, and as a session vocalist and keyboard player. He enjoys practicing audio and video production, creating music videos for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok which have amassed over 50,000 followers and 20 million views. As a vocal recording producer Luca has worked on multiple projects at the Royal College of Music and at Imperial College London. Luca’s videos have been featured by both Classic FM and composer Eric Whitacre. Luca has a degree in Music from the University of Oxford and is currently fully funded by the Headley Trust as a musicologist at Royal Holloway, University of London.
